Safeguarding Policy
Last updated 3 July 2026 (draft v0.1)
This policy is a draft placeholder pending legal and safeguarding-lead review. It is not yet QED’s operative Safeguarding Policy.
1. Our commitment
QED Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who use our services, and expects every member of staff, tutor, and guardian associated with us to share this commitment.
2. Designated Safeguarding Lead
[Name], Designated Safeguarding Lead, is responsible for safeguarding matters across the organisation. Contact: [safeguarding@qededucationgroup.com or similar]. A Deputy Safeguarding Lead, [Name], is available when the DSL is unavailable.
3. Recruitment and vetting
- All tutors and guardianship staff complete an enhanced DBS check (or overseas equivalent) before working with students.
- References are obtained and verified for every tutor prior to engagement.
- DBS outcomes are reviewed periodically in line with our vetting schedule.
4. Reporting a concern
Anyone with a concern about a child’s welfare — a parent, student, tutor, or member of the public — should contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately using the details above, or the contact form. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first.
5. Online and one-to-one contact
All tutoring sessions take place through QED-approved channels. Tutors must not contact students through personal messaging apps or social media, and one-to-one sessions involving under-18s follow our chaperoning and recording guidelines. [Detail pending review.]
6. Training and review
Staff and tutors receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role on induction and at regular intervals thereafter. This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner following any relevant incident or change in legislation.
